Sophia LaVonne is an inter-disciplinary artist spanning the mediums of acting, dance, directing, and writing. While studying the performing arts and film at NYU--where she received a Gallatin grant for the duration of her studies to contribute to the school's performing arts program--Sophia was also street dancing in New York City's subway. She went on to land featured roles as an actress and movement artist in live shows for Baz Luhrmann, as a soloist for Pandora's Be You Campaign, Moscow Opera House, multiple Lincoln Centre productions, at The Apollo Theatre, and Fringe Festival, as well as battle and judge internationally within the street dance world. You can catch her dancing in productions on Netflix, FX, Vogue, Paramount Plus, BET, E!, and her choreography for Nike Industrials, BETs Wild Out Wednesday, TruTV, Adidas, Marc Jacobs, and numerous commercials. Her presence and work is characterized by her pursuit of connecting individuals to their own raw feeling, as well as to one other.

Sophia received further training in acting at Anthony Meindl Studio, Alexander Tech Works, and Terry Schreiber Studios, and training in dance under members of Elite Force, Fosse originals, Electric Boogaloos, and Brian Green to name a few.

 

Her work behind the camera--with an emphasis on fellow movement artists and empowering womxn--has been published worldwide on billboards and in print. 

Sophia LaVonne is a multi-disciplinary artist whose passion, and commitment for each role she takes on has led her to a vast range of experiences. She has had solo acts in international theaters, been featured in several commercials, street performed in the subway, strutted on runways, danced in feature films--music videos--TV--concerts, acted in short films, battled and judged on a global scale in the street dance world, and more. She has worked on projects for directors like Baz Luhrman, Dave Meyers, Paul Briganti, and Jeremy Scott; with brands like Nike, Moschino, Adidas, and Marc Jacobs; with choreographers like Kat Burns, Hi Hat, Christopher Scott, Denna Thompson, Ebony Williams, Lindsey B and Craig, Buddha Stretch; can be seen on Netflix, Paramount Plus, BET, FX; and has created her own works that have garnered attention from the likes of Jimmy Fallon, Vogue, and been published on international billboards. Her presence and work is characterized by her pursuit of connecting individuals to their own raw feeling, as well as to one other. She holds a degree from NYU Gallatin's school of Individualized study, where she received a grant for the duration of her studies to contribute to the school's performing arts program.

 

Sophia received further training in acting at Anthony Meindl Studio, Alexander Tech Works, and Terry Schreiber Studios, and training in dance under members of Elite Force, Fosse originals, Electric Boogaloos, and Brian Green to name a few. She is trained in Popping, Hip Hop, House, Waacking, Ballet, Modern, and Jazz and continues to explore performance opportunities in the mainsteam, underground, and theatrical worlds.
