Sophia LaVonne is a multi-discipliary artist with a focus on dance, choreography, acting, and directing.
This bi-coastal artist kicked off her performance career in Brooklyn presenting original works fusing acting, dance, and film at UCB, Stage 48, and in multiple off Broadway shows . Sophia simultaneously studied all three of these art forms at NYU's Gallatin School of Individualized Study. It was here that she received a ten year grant to create and develop the school's first dance technique program with teachers known to be the greats of both the underground freestyle and staged choreography scenes.
Sophia has gone on to perform for Netflix Astronomy Club, Baz Luhrmann, Microsoft, Pandora Music, Marc Jacobs, Nike, BET, Jeremiah, Seventeen Magazine, Vogue Magazine, Macy's, Betsey Johnson, The Apollo Theatre, Kurtis Blow and The Hip Hop Nutcracker, TruTV; she has choreographed for Nike Industrials, BETs Wild Out Wednesday, TruTV, and Marc Jacobs; she has taught classes at Broadway Dance Center, Peri Dance, EXPG NY, Millenium Dance Complex LA, RedBull Events, NYU, and UCLA, and has been featured in multiple commercials on national TV, SNL, Hulu, and Times Square. She has judged in both the states and overseas and continues to travel internationally for dance and theatre events.
Through internships with Michel Gondry's Partizan Pictures and shadowing an Oscar nominated producer, Sophia expanded her knowledge in integrating video and new media into her creative pursuits, and is now a part of the artist collective For Feels Media. You can also catch her sharpening her craft as a part of LA's world-renown street dance crew: The Lot Original while bringing affordable arts education to youth through two non profits.
Sophia trained under members of Elite Force, Dance Fusion, Fosse originals, Electric Boogaloos, and Brian Green to name a few, while studying theatre at Anthony Meindl and Terry Schreiber.
